Created for the exhibition “Tell 73”, this video is part of a series “TV-DISTURBANCES”.
In the first part I shoot arrows (I practice archery regularly) on a little round mirror glued to a big paper target. My cast shadow, motionless under the mirror, transforms the father into son, transforms the one who aims into the one aimed at. Several arrows miss their target: The Swiss cross stays intact.
In the second part, an arrow breaks the mirror; henceforth the Swiss cross is subject to a lot of electronic disturbance. The questioned symbol produces its image in a thousand different aspects. It is an attempt to uncover a stereotype by altering that stereotype. Jean Otth
